Attukal Bhagavathy Temple
The greatest gathering of women for a festival in the entire globe takes place during the Attukal Pongala, which is hosted at the Attukal Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. Women create delicious payasam which is a dessert made from rice, jaggery, coconut, and plantains as an offering to the Goddess ‘Bhagavathy’ as part of the rite known as Pongala, which means "to boil over." Only women are permitted to execute the ceremony, and during the festival, the city's streets are thronged with devoted believers.
This rite is thought to placate the Goddess known affectionately as "Attukalamma". The entire city of Thiruvananthapuram is illuminated by festive enthusiasm, and the surge in followers has reached a level that has been recorded in the Guinness World Book of Records.
