Beemapalli Dargah Shareef, which is one of the most popular Muslim worship centres in the city hosts the annual ‘Urus Chandanakkudam’. This festival is a grand event attended by both devotees and other visitors who come to celebrate with the local people.
Beemapalli Dargah Shareef is dedicated to Beema Umma who was related to Prophet Mohammed. The place has two wells – one holding cold water and the other hot water. The water in these wells is considered to possess amazing medicinal properties.
The 10-day long festival is celebrated in memory of Beema Umma and her son who were laid to rest at this Dargah. Day 1 of Jama Dul Akbar marks the beginning of the festival and it and lasts for 10 days. Some of the rituals that are a part of this festival are the offering of flowers, oil, and silk cloth at the tombs.
